Rita Fuhrmann - Lead Vocalist
Rita has years of vocal training, and has pursued a successful
career in secular and sacred music. She has worked with various
regional groups, including The Younger Brothers and The Ralston
Purina Show Band. Rita has also performed as a cabaret singer
in local night clubs and is a popular entertainer with Off Broadway
Productions. Additionally, Rita has been a featured soloist on
four Jesuit Journal television programs that are broadcast locally
and nationally. She was one of the first professional cantor-soloists
in the St. Louis Catholic Archdiocese. Rita currently serves as
a musical worship leader at two St. Louis churches, is a Master
Cantor in the Catholic Church, and is a member of the National
Association of Pastoral Musicians. |
Don Hall - Guitar
Don has been a musician since the age of five. He studied saxophone
for many years with the area's best players, and was always the
featured soloist in recitals. He picked up a guitar, and began
playing with numerous rock bands until enrolling at the Berklee
College of music in Boston, where he was a Dean's list student
majoring in Guitar, with a minor in Studio Production. He has
played in single/duo/trio acts, taught, composed, and recorded
for a number of years before joining his Now & Then Band pals
in 1999. |
Dennis Lawler - Bass
Dennis began playing guitar while in high school, and through
high school and college played guitar and bass in various regional
groups, including the Metro East's Barcelona Brass during the
1970's. He has played a variety of musical styles, including standard
dance, latin, nostalgic rock, country, and contemporary rock.
In addition to his career as a veterinary research scientist,
through which he has become well known for his work in nutrition,
pediatrics, and aging, he has written numerous poems and short
stories, has composed several songs in blues and jazz styles,
and has had a variety of recording experiences. He also does lead
and harmony vocals in The Now & Then Band, particularly nostalgic
rock of the 50's and 60's Dennis also functions as a business
contact for the group, and assists Rita in this regard by being

Jennifer Abel - Keyboard and rhythm guitar
After beginning her study of music in high school, Jennifer attended
the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri in Kansas
City, where she pursued composition and piano. She took additional
training in violin, marimba, percussion, and voice. During her
first year at the Conservatory, she placed second in a composition
competition. While she ultimately became a PhD Clinical Psychologist,
her love for music prompted her to finish a degree in general
music, with an emphasis in piano. Jennifer now is very active
in music performance, and has worked in various venues, including
jazz, blues, and pop. In 2001, she joined Now & Then as the
group's regular keyboardist. |

Phil Hendrickson - Drummer
"Drum Phil" started making music in his crib and has beat on things
ever since. He has performed on the drums for over 25 years, covering
styles that include jazz, rock, country, gospel, orchestral and
marching. In addition to the drum set, Phil is proficient on hand
drums, percussion and timpani. |
