Questions often asked about the
band.
1. How many people are in the band?
2. What is the instrumentation?
| |
Guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. A saxophonist
can
be added for your event if you so desire. |
3. What kind of music do you play?
| |
The band truly is a variety band. We play a wide
range of
musical styles, including jazz and pop standards, nostalgic
and contemporary rock and roll, contemporary country, Latin ,
contemporary dance, and selected top forty. The selections
that we provide are designed to provide dancing opportunity
to the varied audiences for whom we often play. |
4. Would you learn our favorite song?
| |
Yes, as long as it is adaptable to our instrumentation
and
adequate notice is given. |
5. How long has the band been together?
| |
The band was formed over 13 years ago. |
6. What do you wear on the job?
| |
For nearly all occasions, the band will be in formal
tuxedo
attire (except for vocalist Rita Fuhrmann, who looks better
in other formal wear). Exceptions might include casual outdoor
events such as pool parties, or those events that require special
costuming, such as 50's - 60's reunion dances. In cases that
might be exceptions, we will discuss attire with clients. |
7. Can your sound system be used for announcements and toasts?
| |
Yes. In fact, we can help with the announcements
if needed. |
8. Do you have a demo tape or CD?
| |
Yes, we have a demo CD that can be provided on request.
In
contrast to some groups, we feel that a demo CD should reflect
accurately the personnel and sound of the band, without studio
special effects that are not available on the job. Our CD has
been
produced according to this philosophy. |
9. What kind of venue's/events do you play?
| |
Any venue that gathers fun people who will enjoy
their time together.
We play most frequently for corporate events, weddings, anniversaries,
group parties and house parties, and do benefit events as well. |
10. Can I see you perform?
| |
Yes. Even though we play for many private events
(such as family
or house parties), we do make every effort to work with clients
to
arrange visits to live engagements. |
11. How long are your performances?
| |
The length of our performance is up to you. Typically,
events last
3 to 4 hours, with 45 minute sets alternating with 20-minute break
periods. However, other schedules are very acceptable and can
be arranged easily.
We always try to schedule break times to coincide with any other
activities that may be occurring during your event. If you wish,
we
also can provide carefully selected CD music to play during the
breaks or for other activities. We are happy to play your own
custom CD at these times, if you desire. |
12. Some people do not like loud music or prefer to hear only one style.
How do you keep everyone happy?
| |
Everyone has individual musical tastes. No band,
DJ, or orchestra
can please everyone all of the time, and those that claim that
they
do are being less than honest. However, we do provide a wide
variety of musical styles during the course of any event. The
sound
volume is monitored so that guests can maintain normal conversations
early in the evening and during dinner. The volume may pick up
later
in an evening as the dance floor fills up, but still is monitored
to
prevent it from becoming excessive. We are sensitive to client
concerns in this respect. |
13. Can you provide music during a cocktail hour or dinner, or for
a short event?
| |
Certainly. Just discuss your needs with
us at the time of event booking,
so that we will understand and meet your requirements. |
14. Will the song's sound like the originals?
| |
We work within or instrumentation and musical arrangements
to
provide material that will sound as close to original releases
as
possible. We are a group of real, live, human musicians (not DJ's)
who are excited about the music that we play and about the
opportunity to interact with our audiences. |
15. When does the band set up?
| |
We typically arrive about 1½ hours before
of the start of your event.
Our goal is to is to complete the set-up and sound checks prior
to the arrival of your guests. |
16. How much do you charge?
| |
The band is priced very competitively, compared
to other live
bands or even some DJ's. |
17. Do you require a deposit or a written contract?
| |
Yes to both. The deposit is made at the time the
contract is
signed, and the balance is due on the day of the event. |
18. How do we book you?
| |
Contact Rita at (314) 647-2287. |
19. What kinds of "special activities" can you provide?
| |
Our vocalist, Rita, often leads line dances, and
we can provide
hula hoops for contests or dancing fun. We also can provide
frequently-requested group dances, such the Hokey Pokey,
Duck Dance, Macarena, or Conga-Line dance. |
20. Does the band always include the same personnel?
| |
Yes. We provide consistent musical quality by working
as the
same group of musicians for each performance. We do maintain
for your protection a small list of highly qualified substitutes
in
the event that illness intervenes, but this is of course a rare
occurrence. We will not book multiple events at the same time,
and then send "impromptu" groups of players to your
event. You
may be assured also that we never cancel our services for
events, even if another event is offered to us at a higher fee.
If you hire us, we will be there. |
21. Can you assist with our event, other than by providing music?
| |
Yes, we often are requested to help in certain ways.
Our lead
vocalist and group manager, Rita, always is present and frequently
is asked to help coordinate events and timing with house managers,
caterers, photographers, videographers, event managers, or wedding
planners, to provide for a seamless progression of activities.
Rita also
is an experienced and very talented wedding vocalist, and can
be
available to sing your wedding ceremony if you so desire.
Rita Fuhrmann is a well-known and highly respected vocalist
in numerous regional venues, and also has professional
experience in wedding service and music planning. |
|
22. Do you post your upcoming performances?
| |
We do not routinely post our entire calendar because
many of our
clients are corporations that desire privacy as to their event
timing
and locations, as a matter of policy. However, individual clients
often permit other potential clients to hear us at their events.
We
can and will inform you of those dates and locations. |
